At the end of its journey clothing and fabric scrap takes up a huge amount of landfill. Add to that the environmental costs of packaging, transport, color dying, printing, and laundry and it creates a dangerous and enormous carbon footprint. This is the reason fashion designed with recycled materials comes as a welcome new fashion trend. There are countless ways to reduce your fashion carbon footprint and rebuild the economy. RecycledForDancing.com designs by Deborah Paulino are collectable works of art that show the nature of transformation, and draw attention to the human connection to one another and the environment. Combined are an array of fabrics from different eras and areas of the world that are either surplus, recycled or vintage.

The reconstruction process starts with hand washing the fabrics in oxygen bleach, then looking at the fabric, shape, color, then sketching out a design. Often several pieces are used to make one piece of clothing and it can take time, sometimes weeks searching through thrift shops, to find the right elements that compliment each other. Once all the elements are in place the construction takes place, then fittings and finishing touches - sometimes tailoring alterations, other times embellishments such as beading, appliqué, or distressing. When the garment is finished and ready for retail, it is then steam cleaned for any leftover dust and allergens and de-wrinkle and refresh the fabric. The results are one of a kind sincere works of art that are well-made, timeless, and fun to wear. I love being different and reconstruct much of my wardrobe. Here is a quick summary:
~ proprietress of a small belly dance boutique in Vallejo, CA.
~ director of a small Tribal Fusion Belly Dance Troupe, named after the boutique

~ dance instructor
~ costume maker

and lots more. The old addage; Jack of all trades and master to zero =D There are no limits to what a person can do.

You will need to bring a picture of yourself along with a bio showing your measurements. Previous modeling experience a plus. Looking for videographer's for the next JaqD Wear fashion show in June! Auditions will be held at the beginning of next month. You will need to bring any camera equipment you need to work with. Looking for designers for our June 9th fashion show at Root Division, 17th and south Van Ness, San Francisco. We are looking for more of an eccentric-Tim Burton-costumey-couture style. Fashion Show

looking for clothing designers who are going to Burningman this year, who would like to submit a small collection for a fashion show at Burningman. Any designers, who wish to participate, will be expected to attend all meetings during the summer, have ideas/sketches and garments due at proposed dates, and be willing to help out before/during/ and after the show. Example: finding models, creative ideas in terms of choreography and music, set up/clean up and distributing flyers, finding volunteers to do make up ect. We have the space/camp. The theme will be that of this years burn, but with our own creative interest. The ideal time of the show will be later in the week during the mid afternoon (so we have natural lighting, less to worry about) but will not be a guarantee until enough designers have agreed to take on this project.
